In this section we look at our Marden ancestors. Through the indexes of parish registers and other documentation in the Archives<\/a>, you can research your family history.<\/p>\n

Charges for this service are listed on the Research page<\/a>. We have indexes of baptisms, marriages, burials, memorial inscriptions and wills which you can search.<\/p>\n

Some people were unfortunate enough to have been in the Workhouse and their stories can be hinted at through the Poor Law Records.<\/p>\n

Censuses provide a snapshot in time of a community as well as valuable family history information. We are gradually transcribing Marden’s census returns.<\/p>\n

We regularly have correspondence from people with roots in Marden who are looking to expand their family trees, so have set up a family tree page to enable families to share this information. Some of our correspondents overseas are providing us with information about how families and individuals, who emigrated from Marden in times of hardship, fared in their new lives on the other side of the world.<\/p>\n

Indexes and family trees can only tell us so much about peoples lives, so we are trying to research and record lives in more detail. We have an ever growing collection of oral histories. Also we have connections with the South East Romany museum, which is a living example of a way of life that has had connections with Marden for many years.<\/p>\n
