Mile Bush Inn
|
B/W photo of the Mile Bush Inn, from front. Horse and cart at left, 2 men (one with apron), 1 woman, 1 girl on tricycle, in front. Lamp over door. Shop at left side "Grocer - G. W. Giles - Baker". All brick frontage. Half-tone print. Early 1900s? Buildings. People. Pubs. Transport.
Based on a letter from Mrs Pauline Sims of Canterbury to Mike Judd: George William Giles (Pauline Sims' grandfather) succeeded Stephen Stanley as landlord of the Mile Bush Inn about 1910. The photograph would have been taken between 1910 & 1915, most likely the earlier part. George Giles (not wearing apron) and his wife Charlotte (Lottie). Man in apron believed to be George's brother. Dorothy Giles (daughter) on tricycle.
