The engine’s owners did a Wealden circuit from about 1920 to 1928. At a later period a lorry would reverse in here and open its rear doors where a screen some 3’ by 2’6” would be visible to the children who brought their school chairs outside and sat in the open to view educational and hygiene films. The spiles are at the entrance to the present car park. Note that there was no kerb on the east side of Goudhurst Road and no path on the west. Buildings. Education. Leisure. Roads.
